On Saturday, March 1, ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ partnered with United Way to host the first-ever βDay of Caringβ; a campus-wide volunteer initiative for the local area. ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ employees came together to make a meaningful impact by assisting local nonprofits and organizations throughout the area.
Participants dedicated their time and effort to various service sites, including the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, The City of Hobbs, the Animal Adoption Center, and Helen Houstonβs Justice House. This collaborative event aimed to strengthen the bond between the college and the surrounding community while raising a spirit of service and public engagement.
As a token of appreciation, all registered volunteers received a ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ Day of Caring t-shirt and a ticket to the College Foundation Scholarship Reception, acknowledging their commitment to service and higher education support. βThe Community Engagement team of the college Leadership Institute, in conjunction with United Way, is excited to have hosted the first βDay of Caringβ! This was a great opportunity for ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ employees to gather for a day of community service to our local non-profits,β said Dean of Workforce Training and Professional Development at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½, Larchinee Turner.
The success of this initial event highlights ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½βs dedication to public responsibility and community engagement. As the college continues to encourage a culture of volunteerism, future events like the College Day of Caring will remain a key initiative in building a stronger, more connected community.
